It’s easy seeing green in these eastern suburbs. Parklands and bushland can be found all over Knox.
Whether you’re someone who likes to explore on two wheels or your own two feet, you’ll enjoy a day out in Knox City. There are more than 100km of shared paths that criss-cross suburbs like Ferntree Gully, Bayswater and Wantirna, linking parks and reserves, schools and shopping precincts.
Lots of families live in the area, so you’ll also discover more than 200 playgrounds — some have just a couple of swings, others have forts, monkey bars and murals (Guy Turner Reserve is a great example). For kids of all ages who like trains, Bayswater Park has a retired full-sized steam engine, as well as a massive sandpit and areas for skateboarding.
Wild bushland reserves are also a huge attraction here. Spot birds, wander by the lake or spread out your blanket for a picnic in places like Ferntree Gully’s Tim Neville Arboretum.
Take it inside at Knox Community Art Centre where there’s gallery space in the contemporary foyer and a theatre, where professional and amateur theatre groups have been thrilling crowds with opera, cabaret, comedy and more for four decades.
When you’re done, you’ll appreciate the variety of eateries available. You might also want to check out vintage items, collectables and pieces by local artists and designers at Market Fair.
