Basketry Workshop - Woven Colourful Raffia Table Mats

Learn a new skill at Woven Raffia Table Mats - a basketry craft workshop with Lydia Beshara at the Royal Botanic Gardens presented by the Friends of the RBGM.

Have some fun using brightly coloured Raffia to create a festive mat or coaster. Join Lydia in this one-day workshop where you will be using woven raffia to make your mat. Choose festive seasonal colours or hot for a summer table. Your tutor will demonstrate all the techniques you will need from start to finish.

No experience needed. All materials included. Take home your creation at the end of the workshop. Suitable for both adults and teenagers. Morning tea and coffee provided. Bring your own lunch.

Lydia has Diplomas in Art and Horticulture and uses her passion for art, craft and plant materials to create unique baskets. Lydia is Basketry Group Coordinator at the Plant Craft Cottage, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and member of the Basket Makers of Victoria.
