Bungalow Live at The JazzLab

Bungalow’s sound is sometimes introspective, sometimes bold and energized, and is highly emotionally engaging. The melodies are often simple, like folk music from the future, yet sometimes complex, the lines twisting and turning as if the band had uncoiled their DNA for the audience to listen to.

With their feet planted in the cool school tradition of jazz, Bungalow maintains an emotional vulnerability; their open hearts, held out for the audience to behold. This openness and simple clarity, is balanced with their virtuosity and group interplay, to create musical landscapes that may indeed express the intangible.

Based in Japan, Bungalow comprises pianist, Koichi Sato, bassist, Hiroshi Ikejiri, drummer, Ko Omura, and Australia-based, National Jazz Awards winner, saxophonist, Mike Rivett. Rivett and Omura both change up the texture sometimes on electronics and Indian tabla respectively.
