Following a successful run of standout performances in the first season of The Voice, dazzling features in Channel 9’s smash hit drama Love Child, and a concert series with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Emma May (formerly Birdsall) is bringing her warm, sultry and soulful tone to The Jazz Lab in October for her Melbourne debut.
Described by soul-singer Seal as “impeccably classy”, May has travelled the globe songwriting, penned hit tunes for top Australian artists (Jessica Mauboy, Dami Im) and dipped her toes into the world of theatre as an actor.
A chameleon by nature, Emma May has found her feet, and yes, found her 'Voice' coming back to her first love - jazz. Echoing the sounds of Sinatra, Diana Krall, Julie London and Nat King Cole, May and her band of young-spirited musicians will take you on a nostalgic and romantic trip down memory lane.
Emma pairs delightfully with her Sydney trio, lead by her husband (and arranger) Daniel May on piano, Cameron Reid on drums, and will be joined by some of Melbourne's finest musicians for two very special evenings at The JazzLab.
