Ganbu Yalingbu. Ngulu-Bulok. One Day. Many Voices.

Fifty years ago on May 27 1967, over 90% of Australians voted to recognise Aboriginals in the national census and allow the Commonwealth to make laws for Aboriginal people. With the biggest ‘yes’ vote in Australian history, the 1967 Referendum represented a beacon of hope for race relations. An anniversary charged with misconceptions and important symbolism, Bunjilaka has invited local Koorie artists to respond to the occasion through paintings, digital collages and video installations. The exhibition will also feature historic and contemporary footage reflecting on this period of change. Artists involved include: Hayley Millar-Baker, The Young Family, Akira Waulu, Josh Muir, Nathan Patterson and Leonie Solomon-Green.
