Hobsons Bay Council has unveiled its annual summer events program, featuring family friendly and blockbuster films in its Movies by the Bay cinema series, and a line-up of high-profile music acts and kid-friendly entertainers as part of its Summer Sounds live music series.
The program of free films and concerts kicks off on Friday 12 January and runs until Saturday 24 February.
Four films will screen across two pop-up open-air cinema locations, including all-ages flicks Despicable Me (12 January) and Captain Underpants (2 February) at Logan Reserve in Altona, plus local comedy Ali's Wedding (27 January) and box-office smash-hit Wonder Woman (24 February) at the Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown.
Hobsons Bay have re-booted their popular Summer Sounds format for 2018 by adding a family friendly opening act to the line up for each event, ensuring that kids can get in on the action too. Over 10 different bands will perform across four Saturdays, including a must-see concert featuring ARIA award winning duo The Audreys and Yorta Yorta singer/songwriter Benny Walker on Saturday 20 January.
On Saturday 17 February Hobsons Bay will host Summer Sounds: Skate from 12:00pm, featuring BMX, Skate and Scooter competitions, followed by music.
