Play Reading: Chekhov and the Lady

Chekhov and the Lady, by Judith Armstrong, focuses on the final years of Anton Chekhov’s life from age 40 to 44. During these years, the internationally beloved writer of plays and short stories wrestled with tuberculosis, his fondness for women, and his ingrained need for artistic freedom.

The play is an adaptation of Chekhov’s short story masterpiece, The Lady with the Little Dog, written during the drama of his own final love affair.

Featuring: Marco Chiappi, Vince Crowley, Jean Goodwin, and Daniela Farinacci and directed by Bagryana Popov
