The Murray White Room presents Quite Contrary, a series of intricate paper cut-outs by Sangeeta Sandrasegar, who uses paper as means to explore of identity, sexuality and culture through the interplay of delicate silhouettes and shadows.

Quite Contrary examines the contradictory historical image of Catholic figure Mary Magalene through a feminist lens, painted as both a saint and sinner, Sandrasegar describes how Magdalene embodies the impossible figure of women in broader patriarchal society, whose subject and form has shifted in accordance to the male gaze throughout art history.
