The Science of Sport: Women on and off the field

Hear from three women who bring mind, body and data together to understand the science of sport.

Join V8 Supercar commentator and Sleeptite CEO, Cameron van den Dungen, as we explore a day in the life of an elite athlete and scientist, what research says about female participation in sport, and even how science and maths play a role in football.

Dr Erin Hoare plays for Geelong Cats and is a former Australian Netballer. She is also a psychologist and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Deakin University's Food and Mood Centre.

Associate Professor Rochelle Eime's research combines sports management, health promotion, behavioural epidemiology and big data analytics. She leads the Sport and Recreation Spatial project, a collaborative venture of Federation and Victoria Universities, which looks at sport participation, population demographics and population health.

Jess Tavrou is a Football Analyst at Carlton Football Club with degrees in Sports Engineering and Football Analytics. Hear from Jess about how maths is used each week to build game plans for the club. Whether it’s team selection, player rotations, match ups or formations, she analyses every team in the competition to identify patterns and strategies that might offer insight into how to approach the match.
