Thursday nights - Gospel with Phia and Melbourne Indie Voices

Thursday nights at the Jewish Musuem of Australia are being presented in conjunction with 'Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait' exhibition.

Amy Winehouse described her musical evolution as moving from Jazz, to Soul, through to Gospel, then Motown and finally Hip-Hop. As part of the exhibition, the Jewish Museum of Australia present a series of evenings that traverse Amy’s vast musical journey, digging a little deeper into the styles of music that informed her complex writing, composition, melody and voice.

In a fun and easy choir-singing workshop, local indie-pop singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Phia (Sophia Exiner) and Melbourne Indie Voices will teach you to sing Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. Learn to sing in the spirit of gospel music alongside this much loved Melbourne choir. Workshop starts at 6:15pm, followed by performance at 7:30pm.

Thursday Nights are brought to you by the Jewish Museum of Australia and Hear Them Holler. Ticket holders under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible ticket-holding adult.
