When you have family or friends in town it’s often hard to cook for large groups wanting different types of food. We have the answer. A buffet, of course! Please everyone in the family, or those friends with tricky allergies, by catering for all needs at one of these top quality buffets. And after all, who doesn’t love an all you can eat smorgasbord, especially when dessert is included!

1. The Roxburgh Park Hotel, Roxburgh Park

The Roxburgh Park Hotel [Somerton Road & Pascoe Vale Road, Roxburgh Park] has a huge selection of freshly prepared food, presented in a help-yourself buffet. Choose from a selection of hot and cold entrees and main courses, including roast meats and vegetables, Asian style cuisine, tantalising curries, wood fired pizzas, salads, and seafood. Plus, there’s loads more for the kids and wonderful homemade desserts.

Once the children have had a feed, let them loose in the small and safe indoor playground. This way the adults can go for seconds! There really is something for everyone at this buffet, fill your plate full with anything from Asian soups to Italian pasta. The best part? Most of the food is prepared right before your eyes. Be sure to try the dessert table, as it will not dissapoint. Try anything from custard-filled cannelloni to all you can lick ice-cream!

3. Seoulia, Box Hill

This one is a little bit different from what we have seen so far, or from what you may expect a buffet to be. Seoulia [980 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill ] is an all you can eat Korean BBQ joint that has been gracing the streets of Box Hill since 2014. The food is tried and tested and loved by locals, the perfect place to bring any visiting friends and relatives… especially if they’re hungry.

This buffet is more of an experience and something fun to do with the kids. All of the large tables have mini BBQs in the middle where you cook the food yourself, with your friends. At the buffet, fresh ingredients are provided raw. Take your pick of different types of meats including pork and chicken, or choose fresh veggies, then head back to your table and let the fun begin! Cook the food to your liking, but don’t forget it’s customary to share. Taking turns on the grill is part of the experience . Also, don’t forget the many sauces and extra ingredients on offer to make the food even tastier. This really is more about the experience than the food, and a great place to take people to show off your local area!

4. Paesano, Knox

There is something special about Paesano [Shop 2218 Knox City Shopping Centre, Knox]. The wait staff are friendly, the food is amazing and the family restaurant vibe puts everyone at ease. Peek into the kitchen and you will often see Nonna at the helm. Her famous hand-made gnocchi, sauces and desserts are made daily, many from 19th Century recipes handed down through generations.

Be sure to leave room for dessert, as you don’t want to miss out on the famous Italian treats…or the massive chocolate fountain. Paesano in Knox is a la carte from Monday to Saturday, but runs an all you can eat buffet of classic Italian and seafood on Sundays.

5. Buffet Hut Indian Restaurant, Nunawading

Dining at Indian restaurants is a fantastic way to try a variety of different curries, however, if you’re on your own, or in a small group, it can be hard to work your way through the menu. Not at Buffet Hut [2 Market Street, Nunawading]! Like most buffets you will be able to pick and choose the dishes and the amounts that suit you. Try a few different curries as well as samosas, roti’s and pappadums.

6. Alfred's Homestead, Warrandyte South

Alfred’s Homestead [420 Ringwood-Warrandyte Road, Warrandyte South] is an old school smorgasbord and seafood restaurant, where the quality of the food is great. The buffet’s main attraction is the two full carvery stations that rotate between pork, chicken and beef throughout the week. Be sure to grab some of the potatoes and gravy too! The seafood is fresh and abundant, while the sweets station features at least ten different types of mouth-watering treats. Alfred’s has discounts for groups and is the perfect place for large events like a family reunion.
