Halloween Shopping in Melbourne’s East

What’s more exciting for kids than Halloween? It’s the time of year to eat chocolate, act cheeky and have a run around.

If you and your family partake in the scary season then it’s probably time to get some decorations up, fill the cupboards with sweets, and head down to the fancy dress shop. We have come up an essential list of Halloween supplies in Melbourne’s East, just for you! We also highly recommended you check out the video below, from Cate Parsons, mother of three and Halloween enthusiast. She has created a way for like-minded people to map their houses so kids and parents know which ones are scare friendly… and we think it’s a great idea! Head to her website here and find out all the details.

1. Sassafras Sweet Co, Warrandyte

Sassafras Sweet Co [207 Yarra Street, Warrandyte] was born in 1995, with two shops in the Dandenong Ranges that have become quite the tourist attraction. Luckily for city-dwellers there is a store in Warrandyte that sells much of what is offered at the other stores. Sassafras specialises in sweets from all over the world. Be prepared to see walls full of colourful candies, swirly lollipops and English toffies. If you are looking to spoil the trick or treaters, or need something to give to your work colleagues, this is definitely the place.

3. Cupcake Central, Hawthorn

In a town that is becoming more and more obsessed with sweet treats, Cupcake Central [7/672 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn] has made a name for itself. They pride themselves on not being your average bakery. Here, they don’t care for fancy frills and flowers, rather they focus on creating cupcakes like you have never tasted before. In true Melbourne fashion, the ingredients used are of the highest quality including Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract, Belgian Callebaut Chocolate, and the creamiest butter and locally farmed free-range eggs.

Their range of Halloween cup cakes are no exception, and while they taste amazing, this range is also about the aesthetics. Choose from Halloween inspired cakes, decorated as pumpkins, frogs or even a scary clown. Cupcake Central also offer larger six inch cakes that are perfect for sharing and scaring!
