Top 4 Chicken Parmas in Melbourne

The parmigiana has secured its place not only in the hearts of many Australians but also on the menu of nearly every pub in the country. Join us as we detail four of the most famed parmas around Melbourne.

Saturdays during winter are easily spent at The Palace Hotel [505 City Road, South Melbourne]. Offering a cosy atmosphere both inside and out, patrons are often seen sitting next to their four-legged friend as the pub is dog-friendly. Take a seat in the beer garden next to a heater and chow down on one of Melbourne’s best parmas. Inside certain ‘trendy’ pubs you will often find parmas neatly served with chips and salad in ramekins alongside the main event. At The Palace, though, your parma sits proudly upon the chips and salad in all its glory, like they have been for many years.

A chicken parma is a great way to fill the stomach before a night out with friends, and The Wolf and I [152 Chapel Street] in Windsor is perfectly situated if you wanted to fill up before heading out. Located in the heart of Chapel Street, the pub is often busy until late. However, the parma isn’t just handy to fill the stomach, the crispy chicken makes for one of Melbourne’s best parmas. Head down to The Wolf and I for a pint and parma this weekend.

For a parma experience like no other head to the Skinny Dog Hotel [155 High Street] in Kew where they serve up a parma of huge proportions (literally!). Nearly engulfing the plate this parma is as much about quality as it is about quantity. For even more value head down on a Thursday for a $20 parma and pot of Kolsch, or stop in on the weekend and catch one of the many games of AFL being screened.

Chicken parmigianas don’t always surface in pubs, nor do they need to be served at a fancy modern bistro. Some of the best in Melbourne are plated up at Italian restaurants and eateries, as is the case here. Rozzi’s Italian Canteen [200 Rosamond Road] is attached to Highpoint shopping Centre in Maribyrnong, you may guess this is the last place you would expect to find a mouthwatering parma, however, you would guess wrong. Delivering fat cut chips and a tantalizing Greek salad along with the tender parma, Rozzi’s have proven that looks can be deceiving and have delivered one of Melbourne’s best parmas.
