Whether you’re an art lover or a punter, you’ll have a great day out in Caulfield East.
Get the day off on the right foot at Granger Cafe. Its breakfast and lunch menus are full of classics like French toast and beef brisket sandwiches, all dished up in generous portions. The cotechino sausage is made in-house and, on the weekend, seasonal specials make the choice of what you’re going to order even more difficult.
Need a spot to entertain the extended family? Caulfield Glasshouse is perfect for a catch-up when your group is a combo of all ages. This bright, modern pub has separate bistro and bar areas, as well as designated kids zone, for stress-free dining on stone-baked pizza, burgers and pub classic.
If you fancy a flutter, head to Caulfield Racecourse. It first hosted a race day in 1859, and is now one of the country’s best-known tracks. You can head out to about 20 race days each season, including prestigious events such as the Caulfield Cup and the Blue Diamond Stakes.
New York has MOMA, but Melbourne has MUMA, the Monash University Museum of Art. Its program of exhibitions includes newly commissioned work, thematic group shows and surveys of significant artists from both Australia and overseas. The main gallery, as well as the Ian Potter Sculpture Court, is located on the Caulfield campus. There is, however, also a public art walk that also encompasses the Clayton campus.
